Mabel Augusta Lybecker

1905-1974

Mabel Lybecker was the last of the nine children of Ella and Charles Oscar Lybecker, born in 1905. Mabel went to college, which her parents were very proud of. Her father died one year after she graduated. Mabel taught school for awhile

In 1928, Mabel and Myron Amick Bostwick were married in New York. She was twenty-three and he was twenty-eight years old.

After they moved to New Yersey, in 1929, they had twins. Myron and Anna May. Sadly, Anna died at birth, but Myron was good and healthy. A few years later, Mabel had another baby, David Allen, who also died as a baby.

In 1930 federal census, Myron was an electrical engineer, and in 1940, he continued that profession in utilities.

Mabel and Myron moved to Oregon. Mabel’s mother was getting older and more frail. In 1950, she was persuaded to travel, by car, to Portland Oregon and spent the summer on the coast, staying with both her daughter Mabel and her son Dewey. She had a great time and in the fall she returned to Pullman with Dewey when his daughters returned to school. She repeated this trip again the next summer, unfortunately late that summer she suffered a stroke and remained at Mabel’s home until her passing in March 1953 at 91 years old.

In 1974, Mabel died at sixty-nine years old in Tillamook, Oregon. Her husband, Myron, remarried two years later to Elizabeth Willoughby. He died in 1986 at eighty-six years old.
