Ella May Harris

1889-1906

 

Ella May Harris was born to Amelia and James Harris on May 21, 1889. She was the third child to their family. She had an older brother, Alpha, and a brother who died before she was born.

 

Not a lot is known about Ella. She was only nine years old when her brother, Alpha died at 15 years old. Then a year later, her mother died.

 

Ella’s father left her in the care of her mother’s sister, Ella Lybecker. She is recorded in the 1900 Federal Census as living with their family. She was about ten or eleven years old at the time.

 

At some time, she went to the Deaconess Home a Methodist program which was a home for girls, mostly orphans or girls with difficulties. Later we find that she died at 16 years old in Deaconess Home, Spokane, Washington on January 7, 1906.
